Monthly Workshops

On the 4^th Wednesday of every month, STRIVE participants meet to discuss a broad array of campus issues, interact with senior leaders, and explore topics related to leadership, managing people, managing themselves or change management.  Additionally, utilizing the critically acclaimed Harvard Business Review's 10 Must Reads series, the STRIVE group delves into texts, each participant facilitating a meeting on a chapter of interest.

Monthly workshops generally take place on the 4^th Wednesday from 1:00PM to 3:00PM

Curriculum

Learn @ UC San Diego: Senior Leadership and Guest Roundtables

• Participate in informal presentations and discussions with Department Managers or other UC leaders
• Gain an understanding of the functions of each of the Departments; hear about the goals and challenges from the manager’s perspective
• Gain exposure to other perspectives around campus outside current VC area
• Learn more about each Department Manager/UC Guest as they share information about their personal career path, their career journey and how they came to be in their current position

Case Studies & Discussions

• Compare and contrast case studies/scenarios with the University environment
• Participate in problem-solving activities and exercises
• Share ideas, questions and experiences; expand mindsets and skillsets

Management/Leadership Book

• Harvard Business Review’s 10 Must Reads book assigned each year to facilitate exploration of latest theories/thoughts regarding management/leadership topics on change management, leadership, managing people, and managing yourself
• Facilitate a group discussion each year regarding a concept in assigned chapter
